Nvidia CEO to Unveil Rubin AI Chip Details Amidst Blackwell Delay

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is expected to reveal details about the company's newest artificial intelligence chip, named Rubin, at its annual software developer conference on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters.

Nvidia's stock has more than quadrupled in value over the past three years, fueled by the rise of advanced AI systems like ChatGPT and Claude, largely due to its data center chips. Huang hinted last year that Rubin will be a family of chips, including a GPU, CPU, and networking chips, designed for large data centers that train AI systems. Industry analysts anticipate production to begin this year, with high-volume rollouts starting next year.

However, Nvidia's current flagship chip, Blackwell, is facing delays due to a design flaw causing manufacturing problems. Nvidia shares experienced a downturn this year following claims from Chinese startup DeepSeek that it could produce a competitive AI chatbot with less computing power, and therefore fewer Nvidia chips. Huang responded, stating that newer AI models that spend more time thinking through their answers will increase the importance of Nvidia's chips because they are the fastest at generating "tokens."
