Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service, which provides access to OpenAI's language models, is experiencing significant growth and diversification of its customer base, as reported by The Verge. While TikTok had previously been the dominant customer, Microsoft has successfully expanded its clientele to include major corporations spending over $1 million per month on Azure OpenAI services.
A recent list of Microsoft's top 10 Azure OpenAI customers reveals that Adobe and Meta both surpassed the $1 million monthly spending threshold in September. Both companies primarily utilize Microsoft's provisioned output for access to OpenAI models, a service that offers dedicated model processing capacity.
While the addition of Adobe and Meta represents substantial growth for Azure OpenAI, TikTok's spending continues to be significant, standing at almost $20 million per month, though its share of Microsoft's overall Azure OpenAI revenue has decreased.
